I am from the year 2034, and have come back in time as an experiment. I am one of the first (i am number 58) test subjects.
I see lots of whining here but none of you know the future. Although, i come from a different future, the likelihood is toys trends will be the same because other than supply chain, no future events will affect toys. Here is what toy will look like in 2030.
Should I be telling you this? No. Will it affect the timeline? Maybe. Gamergate happened because of the first experiment gone awry.
Anyways here is literally what will happen assuming things stay the same.
2021-2023
No change. Marvel legends become less popular. Import toys start gaining ground. Domestic collector toys lose alot of buisness.
2024-2025
Neca declares bankruptcy. Both mafex and shf lower prices enough to be in mainstream stores. Then economic depression hits. Trump wins the election, and immediately steps down to let ron de santis be president. Global depression hits in april 2025. This is caused by inflation collapse. For a few weeks the US dollar is worth nothing, and the fed gives up on it. As a result a new type of money will exist printed by the federal reserve, with crypto backing. As a result companies like hasbro and mattel are put in crisis. Only, essential companies are given the backing of government. US made toys cease to exist, and european model kits, and japanese companies are all that exist.
2026-2030
Toys are almost non existant in stores. All there is, are balls, and card games. Lego is the only mainstream toy left standing.
2031-2034
All of you constantly complain about "the good old days." And how "2015-2023 were the real /toy/". So shut up with your damn current day whining. I'm sick of it.
Basically companies that survive:
Lego
Revell
Airfix
Bandai
Medicom
Good smile
Funko
Plushes
