>>9009586I understand where you're coming from. I tried the risers way and prefer it the split shelf way for coincidentally the same reason you pointed out--that it looks too clusterfucky. Here's my line of thinking;
Within a single "cube" or shelf in a detolf, there's a finite amount of space. In one cube, say you can fit.. 10 figures total, 5 at the top of the risers and 5 at the bottom. But you also have to account for the space the risers take up. It's 10 figures and 3-5 risers in that finite space. Now, alternatively, the half shelf can cut the detolf cube in 2, and hold the same 10 figures, 5 on the top shelf and 5 on the bottom shelf. But without the added clusterfuck of the 5 risers.
Also, I find that when you use risers, the formula is usually "back high, front low" which leaves this kind of inverted triangle of negative/unused space within a single detolf cube. The split shelf method doesn't have this negative space, and allows you to space out your figures more by using the space normally occupied by that inverted triangle when using the risers method.
