Toy companies also like to stick to "intended target demographics" & businesses like Hasbro have become so complacent int he idea of their loyal fanboys buying whatever they make to "support the brand" that they don't really try anymore. Market research isn't done much anymore & if it is, it's usually employees bringing their kids into a room. White supremacist fake outrage ha also muddied the waters of getting nay meaningful fan feedback when some Nazi shortdick prteends to be a fan to express his hatred of a woman getting a part in a movie so I think companies have begun to drown out all feedback, which leads to them throwing out whatever. And if it fails? Tax writeoffs for business losses keep them afloat so they lose nothing.
Velma & Good Times may even be signs they want this media to fail because the tax writeoffs probably benefit them more than if they make money, with the added bonus of pissing people off. Good Times was made by "woke" people yet looks like the KKK made it as it is nothing but negative stereotypes that also shits on the original sitcom, pissing off even the blacks they wanted to watch it.
Look at this shit here. Make a game, market it to white racist religious fanatics who are also the group with a seething hatred of Funko Pops, make Funko Pops. I know Hugo Marttin is a nutcase no-talent who likes these but no one else on the dev team or the player base likes these. Don't forget that Funko destroyed millions of dollars worth of Pops last year but thanks to that magic tax writeoff shit, didn't suffer anything. Their CEOs still got their bonuses.
There is also a strong possibility of money laundering going on with these failed projects & that a lot of so-called industry leftists & "woke" companies secretly give piles of cash to Republicans so they can get tax breaks for the rich along with a few laws passed they can benefit from such as stricter IP laws.
