>>8772857I used Tamiya spray cans. It's grey primer, gloss black, gold, gunmetal, and mica silver. Gloss black was used as an basecoat for the gold, gunmetal, and mica silver. No topcoat.
I rent a house, so I had the luxury of spraying in my backyard. Otherwise, I paint by hand using Vallejo acrylics since they're odorless and non-toxic. In my opinion, if you're eager to start painting then grab some acrylic primer and colors, some cheap brushes (avoid synthetic), make a homemade wet palette, and practice on a cheap figure/model. Altogether, it's a lower cost of entry than going full airbrush, spray booth, etc, and you'll quickly learn if you even enjoy it. I only finally got an airbrush setup this month, but it wasn't cheap and I would feel woefully unprepared had I not spent time painting by hand first. Attached is my latest kit, I painted the mobile suit by hand and airbrushed the sword.
