It doesn't match his organic Season 1 form at all, it can't be stowed in robot mode (his actual crossbow can, though), and it doesn't even spin like the original did. You can safely put it aside and never look at it again, and Tarantulus would still transform just fine (it just gets tabbed into a hole under his Beast Mode anyway - a hole that becomes inaccessible in robot mode). The part offers nothing for him and he's a complete figure without it - I just chucked mine in my extra weapons pile.
Oh, forgot to mention - his spider leg tips are blast-effect compatible, so if you still feel he's lacking in weaponry (which you shouldn't), you can recreate his whole 'machinegun legs' thing from the show as well.
