Otherwise he would be crashing into buildings all the time; which would actually be pretty funny.
But I get what you're saying; like what if he fought an ephemeral, ghost-like entity?
Again, it's probably happened but somebody else would have to weigh in on it; I haven't really followed Daredevil much since the Frank Miller era, which was hundreds of years ago.
