I might start by sanding a bunch of the horrific nubs off and possibly using something to loosen these incredibly tight joints a bit. Transforming one of my blue knock-offs is an exercise in total finger destruction. I'd like to try taking all the black parts from the yellow Knock-off (if it ever shows up) and mixing them with the pink parts to make a pink and black DIO with a punk vibe. I'm sure we'll both have cancer soon from the medical waste used in the plastic for these bootlegs.
