>>6954817>Hardhead is the toy that really hooked me on current-era TransformersSame! I hadn't been keeping up with current stuff for at least 5 or 6 years at the time I saw Hardhead on the pegs, and his bright colors just kind of spoke to me. I bought him on impulse and fell in love. Before that, I used to collect only the odd legends/legion class, and mostly MPs. Thanks to TR, most of my collection is now Takara LG figures.
>>6955011>Hardhead is legitimately my favorite deluxe of the lineHe was disproportionately good. For the first few waves, he was far and away the best figure, nothing could touch him. It wasn't until later waves and the likes of Topspin and Misfire actually gave him some competition.
Additionally, Hardhead went above and beyond and actually had wrist swivels for no fucking reason. They actually purposefully engineered and extra joint in there just for the sake of articulation! I feel like that was the last time they even tried to do that. Also he had that neat little lid to cover the seat in his cannon so it didn't look like shit when nobody was sitting in it. I feel like Hardhead was designed by some idealistic young employee who didn't get the memo as to just how much penny-pinching Hasbro was trying to do, and was summarily fired. All the stickers, and unpainted crap we've been choking on since has been Hasbro trying to make back all the profit they lost on Hardhead.
