Am I the only one who is a bit disappointed with the production figures shown in these new images?
-Plastic used for the flesh is very shiny and looks absolute nothing like the matte painted protos they were showing for months. I know that often happens, but this is a very drastic shift since the plastic they are using looks particularly more glossy than most other companies use. It does make them look kind of cheap and reminds me of shiny plastic Jazwares was using in their dark days for things like World War Z, NBA Heroes, etc.
-Lots of marks, imperfections, flaking, etc in and around the elbow joints of Fei Long. These are pinless which means the POM elbow joint part must be manually inserted into the steel mold before the other PVC plastic in injected around it. It seems they're using tools too rough when doing this or their molds are not producing clean parts but that looks messy as heck.
-Some swirly twirly plastic streaks in the plastic seen in Fei Long's torso. This happens when tooling is not designed as best as it could and plastic flow within the molds is not ideal. Hopefully that's kept to a minimum.
-Painted ankle joints on Fei Long. Looks bad and means that the paint will flake off over time and create more of an uneven appearance. POM joints don't hold paint well so they are usually never painted. Hopefully this is not a common thing.
-Didn't Jada say these were gonna be $19.99 or did I imagine it? I though the guy in the recent livestream showing off protos had said that. If MegaMan ones are $24.99 too, that'll be a hard pill to swallow IMO.
-Weren't we expecting a 3-figure Wave 1 w/Chun Li too? So they spent less on tooling AND are charging more than announced previously (IIRC)?
All said, the value looks to be pretty good for getting some unique sculpts, super articulation that is actually well designed, and TONS of beautiful shading that turned out nice. I just hope these cosmetic issues seen on some promo images are not widespread.
