All of Barbie's iconic looks have been lifted from runways, celebrities and other contemporary fashions. You look at a 60s Barbie, you know she's 60s. You look at 90s Barbie you know she's 90s. But look at current Barbie and she's still trapped in fashion trends that peaked years ago in garish colours with flat feet and no makeup, in a time where the makeup industry is making billions.
I don't get why doll collectors saying "oh this look was taken from an existing fashion" as a bad thing for a doll designer, their skills should really be able to get existing fashions and being able to translate it for the scale and play pattern of a doll.
People wanting "original" fashions get failed fashion designers like Carlyle thinking that his shit smells great cuz it ignores trends and fundamentals of modern fashion all because it's not copied from an existing fashion.
