A lot of my best army men stuff came from flea market finds overseas, man I miss those days. In terms of thrift store finds, gotta say this one from just last summer was one of the best - a nearly complete set of the original Mega Bloks Halo Wars Aerial Ambush (only missing the figs but including a UNSC turret also minus figs). It was the only set I hadn't bought back when the line first started, became a bit of a grail that I never seriously persued but kept an eye out for, managing to get the Hawk from that set off of Kijiji a few years back.
Some of the parts were pretty warped, couldn't say whether that happened over time or were defective from the beginning, good case for the latter as only the Banshee had been partly assembled, with the sticker sheet still intact. Did what I could with boiling water and brute force to straighten out the warped pieces (that long brick for the tail section was especially difficult); unfortunately the two wing pieces proved to be too far gone. Luckily Mega had released a remake of the set just a couple years ago and I was able to request a pair of wings from it. The shade of green isn't quite the same but it blends in well enough.
Oh yeah, everything cost me a grand total of $7 CAD and waiting a couple weeks for the replacement wings, and it was a Value Village a good distance from my area that I'll visit less than once a year on average. Fate wanted me to have it all I guess, heh.
