Now I'm gonna jump ahead about a month because it turns out I stopped taking pictures during the scenery phase for a while and jump to the current status of the layout. The biggest substantial changes from the last pic to here are
>The trees were replaced with Heki pines.
>Grass and bushes were spread across the layout to break up the brown
>Weeds reeds and stumps were also placed around the layout
>The tracks were glued down and ballasted. I did a mostly ok job here (First time ballasting) but I did fuck up on two of the switches and they won't operate properly.
>The water was added into the lake (admittedly a pretty piss-poor job on my part since it was my first time using the stuff, tried hiding it with some modge podge but I think I just made it worse to be honest. I'll live with the mistake though)
>A fence was added to the top left part of the layout above the tunnel portal
>A loading dock was added to the bottom left siding to load supplies that need to be brought up to the top of the hill
>A toolshed was placed at the loading dock for workers to store their tools
For my first serious attempt at layout building (IE something more than throwing some track on the dining table and packing it back up after a day or two) I feel like I did an alright job. Definitely a learning experience that's for sure. I still have a bit more to do for the layout (I have a building kit coming in the mail sometime this week or next to add to the layout, a slew of various figures to add to the layout, five freight cars to repaint, cleaning up the insides of the tunnel to hide incoming trains, and who knows what else), so if anything else gets added I'll post it here.
