>>8153586I have She-Ra and Glimmer from this line and they’re fairly decent dolls, I’m one of the 5 people who bought some. (I had to get She-Ra rerooted though because Mattel gave her cheap garbage quality hair)
Glimmer makes the best doll imo because guess what, she’s the girliest! Imagine that. But of course fans of the show complained that the dolls were “too skinny and pretty“ despite the fact they were never going to buy them anyway. It’s no shock they shelfwarmed because little girls don’t actually like Nu-Ra, even with the designs prettied up in doll form.
Ironically this series alienates both potential groups of toy buyers; they’ve said it’s not for men (with the deliberately prudish designs) while at the same time not appealing to little girls because the characters were also made less feminine.
It is utterly baffling to me why a company would spend millions of dollars to make a product that literally no significant demographic wants.
Oh wait this is Mattel and they’ve done this before with WWE fashion dolls, Creatable World gender neutral dolls, and fat/bald/vitiligo/amputee Barbies (these all exist I’m not making that up)
This is why they say “get woke go broke” I suppose.
