Basically the general consensus is that it's a QC error that occurs in the factory when they pin that entire joint. Due to the plastic making up the hinge/the plastic being too thin it can crack/stress to varying degrees during insertion.
Basically, if you're gonna get him, make sure the place you buy him from accepts returns
