This excuse for not updating being "modularity" is actually a pretty shit excuse, since they're not really modular like actual modular lines, since they also dropped modular scheme when they dropped it being 1:18. They were supposed to be modular like the Gylos.
To say it's modular is like saying GI Joes are modular. Only accessories are meant to be swapped, like helmets, backpacks, hats, or webgear. Everything else is engineered to not pop off without considerable force, just like the Mythic Legion stuff. Stresses the shit out of the plastic. True modularity also has engineering to withstand that swapping, like Takara's Diaclone or the Snapships line.
