>>8670007>because it was far easier to do that than 3d print back then so it was way less prevalevent.i think its less about the ease of 3d printing, but rather about the speed at which you can quickly kitbash existing parts to make something new vs sitting down and modeling a completely new part in 3d. they still used kitbashing for G2, like with this skull grinder prototype. but they also showed a bunch of 3d printed proto masks in the g2 designer videos, so youre probably right that 3d printing is used more nowadays. for the rahkshi prototype that was found earlier this year they actually digitally kitbashed a noble matatu to make the head. i always find it really interesting seeing behind the scenes stuff like that
