Going beyond the veil of toys and into a tangent about film, I find that Richard Raaphorst was the most successful in proving the viability in an expanded Frankenstein mythos with his film "Frankenstein's Army". Not only that, but the designs of his "zombots" (the nickname given to Frankenstein's many many monsters in the film) go a long way in proving the viability of such a concept in toy form. Each design had it's own personality and flare, and despite every monster looking so vastly different and nightmarish, you instantly got a sense of what their deal was.
