My speculation is maybe behind the scenes Hasbro and Saban planned the buyout ahead of time, so Saban either priced Bandai out of renewing the license or straight up refused to renew it, then let Hasbro buy the license with a contract written beforehand that included the option to buy the property outright. No idea if any of that is true.
