Started collecting in like 2007ish when I was still in highschool. Mostly Gunpla and some early import figs, alot of statues. Mostly stopped collecting statues entirely when Revoltech and Figma started taking off, as well as picking Transformers back up when Generations started. Had to slow down and stop for a few years when I moved out on my own, only really bought something off of Mandarake every few months despite having a ton of disposable income as I was really into comics, as well as wargaming which I've since dropped as all the available games either suck or there's no local scene to play.
Now that I'm 30, living with a wife who makes way fucking more than me and I only have to contribute like $500 a month to our expenses, I have more cash than I know what to do with. Ironically everything has become so fucking expensive that despite having a grand to blow on something like the Sentinel SRX stowed away, I can't actually justify it to myself. Got to the point where I really just buy TBS, some 3p TFs now and then and Generations TFs. Trying to build up my Kinnikuman SHF collection but the lack of EMS available now has made that impossible too.
Honestly I prefer being younger, much as things like SoCs were out of my price range when I was a kid, the thrill of collecting new and exciting lines and seeing engineering flourishing and exploding in the late 00s/early 10s was insane. Now the engineering advances are minor at best and everything costs too much for so little improvement. Like goddamn RDs now are way better than RDs in 2011 but not $130 + shipping better.
