Point of this is to say that adopting a pet, even a typically rambunctious breed, doesn't necessarily mean the death of your toys. Do your research, spend as much time with the animal as you can before taking them home, see if they've gotten any training while at the shelter, make sure the shelter you're using offers a trial period at home, and continue the training if you keep it.
PS: Goes without saying, but definitely don't leave your figures laying around or on the bottom shelf.
