To me this is a shame - Lego for me was always a means of creating things, and when I was young I enjoyed building things out of the little amount of pieces I had but also creating stories and lore and a whole universe around what I had build. I had my own characters, my own everything.
These days the lore and characters are sold to you with a build for the vast majority of sets.
It's sad honestly.
