>>10039445>I'm looking for something that can make a 180deg turn in about 8-10 inches. That's a real tall order, even normal N scale stuff usually needs like 15-18 inches for a full half-circle. Your choices are either
>Kato Compact UnitrackPROS
>Unitrack is great for beginners and easy to set up>N scale stuff is far more common in the USCONS
>Small-as-fuck radius (We're talking 5"-6" here) means you can't run anything longer than 40 scale feet without risk of it derailing or just looking weird going around curves>Z scalePROS
>You could fit more stuff in the same space than if you went with N scaleCONS
>Very few offerings for US prototypes, most stuff you'll find is either European or Japanese>Typically more expensive than N scale due to engineering costsA negative shared between both of these though is that they're way too small for what I think you wanna do. If you mean one of those wall mounted layouts where the train wraps around the wall there's a reason why people do that with larger O/G scale trains - It's so they can actually see them from a distance. If you just have a spare window sill or countertop and want to put a small layout there temporarily then N or Z are what you want.
Honestly I'd say go for N scale. If you're in the US most any hobby shop that stocks N scale stuff will have Kato stuff in stock, and the CV-1 Unitrack Compact Oval Set is like $30 for a complete oval and some feeder wire, all you need to buy after that is a transformer and a train to run.
