For your moc, maybe some preformed vehicle chassi will do? Like start it as a small flatbed truck or pickup, but with arms and with legs instead of wheels?
I'm kind of stuck myself with arms of this thing. It took me an evening and a morning to get it to this state, which is so far smoothest and fastest building expirience I had, but now I have no idea what to do next. Maybe it's all about pieces you have on hands, I dunno.
