Guy with the GuP tank from last thread. Everything but the tracks are done and assembled, and the tracks mostly just need to be glued on at this point outside of a small touch up and will be dinished later today.
Side by side with the tank I was repainting the super grunt group build from months ago I fucked up and burned out on. I was using it to test some new products before applying them to the tank which was the main project. The GM ended up being completed first. I was unsure about using these new paints right onto the tank because I couldn't find too much in the way of reviews for them.
Products I tested were:
>Mr color clear gloss
Worked out great. Dried really smooth and hard. Would recommend as a gloss for waterslides and panel washes. Heard the "GX" version is better for final gloss coats though.
>Tamiya XF-85 rubber black.
Newer paint from Tamiya. Its a glossy, slightly off-black color that retains a bit of rubbery sheen to it even after flat coating. I used it on the joints and I think it came out really nice.
>Tamiya xf-86 flat clear.
Also new from tamiya, they finally started making a bottle of flat clear for airbrushing. I was honestly a bit dissapointed in this one though. It's not as flat or smooth as the spraycan version, even when thinned at different ratios or with lacquer. It ended up being more of a satin. Maybe I'll mess around with it again later but after trying it on a couple pieces I just switched back to the mr color flat clear.
And yes, I know I didn't seam weld the biceps.
