>>8956385Its not mine, but a lot of times softcovers are all that are available and even worse, a series that starts off with hardcovers never finishes and instead they switch over to softcovers, so a complete collection looks weird on shelves. So if you have an OCD or "caring about aethetics", a softcover collection is much much neater looking in terms of asthetics.
Also, there are other oversized hardcovers that just cover a single volume and that sticks out even more.
And some people also hate omnibuses, because they're just too large and heavy to read comfortably.

Lotta reasons to stick to softcovers. My own shelves look messy because of that mix of hardcovers and softcovers.
Does Marvel even do hardcovers anymore? I remember in the 00s they were using the gold and black sides for almost every series (looks POSH as fuck), but i rarely see hardcovers in stores anymore, aside from a few popular series.
