They couldn't quite capture the whole hypnotized look so the doll comes off looking like an early 2000s classic Disney store doll.
What they failed to do (or didn't want to spend the extra money to do) was to eliminate her derpy open mouth smile which exposes her teeth. If you look a the box art work or even the film what gives off the illusion of her being in a trance is that she has dead zombie eyes, and No Smile. The doll has the zombie eyes, but she also has a smile which kills the look they were going for.
They should have also played around with her eyebrows a little in order to give her a more subdued expression , and closed her mouth.
