>>8364926I still stand by the assertion that Playmates and Nick fucked up by releasing such a vastly different incarnation of the TMNT directly after one that was as well regarded amongst fans as the 2012 series was. That kind of decision making always directly leads to failure and it happened to the tmnt before. Right after the original cartoon ended, a few years after the third movie got shit out, TNM became Eastman and Laird's attempt to revitalize the franchise using some scrapped ideas they would have put into a fourth movie that never manifested. Long story short, Next Mutation introduced a bunch of new bullshit and flanderized the ever living fuck out of the turtles to the point where the show overall feels like a parody of both TMNT and Power Rangers. There's a direct correlation between TNM and Rise.
Honestly part of me wishes they had just continued with a full series based on those half shell hero movies.
