The 1998 and Legendary versions of Godzilla were intended to be more "realistic" interpretations of the character, but I like the Minus One design since it's more of a modern take on classic Godzilla. The 1954 design was based on the then-contemporary understanding of how dinosaurs looked based on Charles R. Knight's illustrations, just like how Godzilla's butt brain in 1993 was based on a theory popularized by paleontologists in the 19th Century that was still widely believed in the early 1990's.
