Okay, decided what I am going to do about the Fokker. I found I had a second copy of the kit in my stash, and I was never happy about the one I made to begin with (the paint guide is nothing like accounts of the real machines, my weathering was awful and there were various structural issues).
What I plan to do is fix the issues with the broken kit while building up the spare kit (probably detailing it more with lessons learned from the original) and then paint both (respraying the original). I will mask the decals on the original to preserve them (apart from the aircraft number which I will spray over) and keep the old one as Udet's bird, while the boxed kit will be painted up as a Turkish Eindecker (crosses that country off the Great War list for me). Turkish livery should be easy as their Great War roundel is just a black box with white border, so here is hoping.
