Having owned an expensive Iwata compressor for about 10 years now and also having tested a number of cheap ones I will say this: if you can afford a good brand buying a cheap generic one is a decision you will regret, but if you can't then you buy what you can afford and you make it work for you and your workflow.

Wasting your living/storage space with a large compressor just so you can paint a large diorama base once or twice a year *quickly* doesn't sound like a good idea. If you can't afford a hobby compressor that can run a small spray gun you simply grin and bear it and paint that base with your regular airbrush half inch at a time.

It puts out 10psi at the absolute most and probably not very steadily, and I doubt it will survive a prolonged session without overheating.

Point is, when I'm painting I want to be thinking about my model, not my compressor and what I can and cannot do with it. And I certainly don't want it crapping out on me in the middle of the session.

I tested a mini compressor (not portable) and the most I was able to get out of it was 10psi. I can't speak for aquarium pumps but I imagine there is no reason for them to be able to sustain high pressures.

10psi would actually get you pretty far with airbrushing but there are some cases where you would want 15 or 20.

More like 7.5psi in reality. It stops as soon as it reaches the pressure, it starts working again as soon as pressure drops below 5psi.
I spray at around 10psi most of the time so that isn't actually a big issue for me.

The "Shift" button controls the CFMs, manual states 11/12/13 L/min (0.39/0.42/0.46CFM).
I don't have the equipment at home to measure airflow but based on the time it took to spray out a full cup of water during cleaning it sounds about right. Its a pretty shit CFM but not entirely unusable.
