Amateur weathering jobs are almost always a terrible eyesore, and a simple clean build is usually preferable. I'm all for being ambitious, but sometimes trying to run before you can walk just creates a disaster. Which is fine, it's your kit and you can do what you like, but slowing down and learning first will serve you much better in the long run.
