When I think about third party now, honestly I just feel kind of sad. It just doesn't feel like there's anything left to be surprised by anymore.
So much focus is going into Bayformer stuff that I can't get into. Literally show me two different BayPrime figues from two different 3p companies and I wouldn't be able to tell you who's who.
The amount of still living companies have thinned out so much that it feels like they're more niche companies.
Fanstoys has a death grip on the 3PMP concept, with other companies like MMC and Zeta focusing almost solely on combining MP figures.
CHUG is basically dead, with the exception of MMC (though it feels like they're close to ending it) and Planet X, who still have so many possible video game designs they could make figures out of, but probably won't. Maketoys is clearly dead as well, or at least zombified.
Iron Factory feels like the only company that can really create any sense of excitement anymore, because they're still surprising with new takes on old favorites. As far as the Legends-size market itself goes, it's become heavily samey due to Newage and Magic Square's localized war with one another, while it looks like DX9's thrown in the towel.
Maybe I'm just depressed because my country has gone to absolute hell from Covid to Protesting to PC policing, but I can't get that same thrill from third party for a while now.
