I keep a handful of toys on my nightstand to just idly fiddle with, transform, or pose as I'm falling asleep. Today for fun I decided to total up what I'd paid for them. It's like $500. FIVE HUNDRED dollars just for the toys I consider dumb bedtime fiddling toys.
This made me look over the rest of my collection and realize how...easily I adjusted to toy prices. Just a little while ago I was really stressing over the purchase price of a PS4, not realizing that I'd spent more than that (without even thinking twice!) on action figures that month. I now realize how dangerous this hobby can be. How many thousands of dollars might be wrapped up in my collection? I'm afraid to find out. What else could I have done with that money? Traveled? Saved up for big important purchases? Moved into a nicer place? Fuck.
I still love toys, but I think I'm having a little bit of a crisis over this.
