I like both as Evil Warriors, but in a situation where Skeletor and Hiss are tight and basically share a their resources, it's fine, the same way it's fine to see Skeletor bossing Tung Lashor around, or if Ninjor joins Blast in his snake aiding job. In set ups like that, neither set of fans get left out in the cold, both interpretations are valid.
I mainly get het up over it when Skeletor and Hiss are enemies and it's "pick a side". One thing I really hated in 200x was Kobra Khan is a Snake, always been a Snake, never one of team Skeletor.
