I know this is a dead thread, but its where my true homies dwell. Peep the D&D set made out of the Creator Castle. I added probably 20 extra parts from my own collection, and used parts from 8 D&D minis. Not counting the dragon and my brick built weapons and mage hat, this right here is $125 worth of Lego recreating the $360 set. It's structurally weak in spots and no room for play, so I'd rate it mediocre, but it does look pretty nice. If all you want is to shelfwarm and look good, I'd say this is an economical way to do the official set. However, I would rate it poorly on a play level. Nowhere to put dudes, most spaces being too small to accommodate the minifigures. Hard to play around when you can't mess with it. Very much a look don't touch set. Which is pretty lame. The Torture Tower I built was a lot more fun to play with, as was the Woldpack Tower recreation, even though both were smaller.
