For example, pic related is SD. Bikkuriman stickers are all SD as they take the original design and simplify some features, all while making the proportions deformed in regards to the original design. I've been studying this art style for several years now and it isn't easy. I'm still trying to understand the nuances of it. Only like three artists I'm aware of can pull it off well (besides the people at Lotte themselves). I'm just trying to replicate how they do it. All these toy companies try to do it and fail. I do give props to Kid Robot and Funko Mystery Minis for succeeding in some regards though when it comes to non-Japanese companies. Not to sound like a total weaboo, but the principle of SD is very much based in Japanese culture. It's hard to explain.
