Bookworm's actually a villain who could fit into today's world motivation-wise as a failed author that just wants to see the literary world burn out, just make his appearance a little less ridiculous with the big magnifying glass. That's not even made up bs, they mention in a quick sentence in the episode that he was unable to write anything himself, but had read everyone else's works and was envious.
