Revoltechs were considered budget figures when they came out and were priced a whole $5 above the average "collector" toy in NA at the time they came out. Technology has improved significantly since 2008 as well and tech that was previously impossible at the price point is now totally doable and the norm, including both engineering and paint apps. So no, it is not unreasonable at all to assume that things would get better, because things have become better. Things like universal joints reduce cost because they do not require new tooling, it just requires engineers making the figures to account for them in sculpts, otherwise you get shit where the joints are horrible restricted by the sculpt.
