>>9328812Ill bite, because you're at least rational about this.
>stuff like photo real was a thing back in 2011These decals (thermally applied, so it sticks on better than paint) have been around since at least the mid-00s. The only difference is that they're now using it on the faces and areas that need weathering or shading, instead of just trying to make a scale image on a toy like pic. New technique, not a new technology.
>A lot of companies, minus McFarlane,McFarlane uses them too. It's harder to spot, because unlike bandai, it's not taking the place of all face paint apps.
These decals are actually a cost cutting method, at least for companies like Bandai, McFarlane and DCC, since they take the place of the shading and weathering that used to be applied by hand and air brushing. It's an inferior replacement and so cheap even Hasbro can use it.
>Did you just contradict yourself?Bandai (and Hasbro) doesn't exist in a vacuum. They continue using the same engineering they and other companies have used since the early-00s. They only change what engineering/joints they use. Again, most of the improves actually come from a sculptors ability to integrate it with the sculpt. Again, it's an artist's decision.
>That line has changed dramatically over the yearsoh, i don't disagree about sculpt improving. Like i said and implied with this post
>>9328606 they have changed sculptors and stuff has improved. Or how their $20 model kits look better than their $80 Figuarts.
IT all depends on the sculptors they use. But compared to other companies' talent, they're definitely not as good.
