>>6058763Fiddling with the parts i have is the start of 99% of all mocs. At some occasions i just started off drawing something and that i then wanted to make out of LEGO and start looking for solutions. But most of the time I'll take a neat part and think "wow, maybe this could work as an X" and work from there. Then just oldschool draw some parts of it out so i remember and can keep track of what parts i need.
Ofcourse you could use ldd, but for me pen paper and live parts are quicker. But i have used the former to finalize bigger projects.
Since most mocs start off as just using whatever i have at hand, i generally don't have to order 9000+ parts from bricklink except when it's for a building.
