>>8859724>Cringe>Historically she isThe real Pocahontas was also a child, and didn't have a romantic relationship with 40 year old John Smith. Funny how Disney picked a real life child to portray the oldest (24 years old) Disney Princess of all time. Disney's Pocahontas has very little to do with the actual historical figure. That's why I view Disney's Pocahontas as its own separate entity. Disney took the liberty of turning a child into a 24 year old adult, and a 40 year old bearded man into a young hunky blonde surfer dude in his early 20s so they could hook up on screen. I'd say Disney's Pocahontas is inspired by the real life Pocahontas, just like the new upcoming Black mermaid Ariel movie is inspired by the real white Mermaid character created by Hans Christian Andersen. It's majorly fucked up, culturally insensitive, and twisted in both cases, but that's Disney for you. As some anon screeched at me in one of these threads "If you don't like it, don't give Disney your money"
