Sure, they aren’t /profoundly/ dissimilar faces, but it’s still a pretty darn poor likeness, even by the standards of cartoons and caricatures.
I 100% guarantee the only reason that character’s face screams Michele Obama to you is either because she takes up an unreasonably large place in your brain (she’s not exactly the most important public figure in terms of actual doing or affecting anything of much significance) or a lack of regular exposure to enough black faces to train decent differentiation.
Also as a shot in the dark, you wouldn’t happen to also buy into “crisis actor” or celebrity-cloning conspiracy theories? Because there always seems to be a pretty high correlation between those and having undiagnosed or sub-clinical face-blindness.
