>>7333481As a part-time hobbyist I can tell you that if you got the creativity and ingenuity you can definitely make some grand toys with 3d-printing.
I could only afford a plug 'n play FDM printer which meant that I had to tweak the fuck out of existing designs to make them look good, pic related is the smoothest result I could achieve.
Aside from the shitty quality and duration of FDM there's some legit good developments coming out of the SLA and DLP side of 3d-printing, we're talking affordable plug 'n play machines and kits like we've seen with FDM-printers the past few years.
When all you need is a few liters of resin to make high-quality and complex plastic shapes making your own figurines will actually pay off.
As for now I just print rough models for reference and remake them with pla-plate.
