We burgers did play around with mounting a Pershing turret on a Sherman but it had subpar rotation and stressed the suspension. slapping the jumbo armor on top probably would have BTFO even the best suspension transmission and engine available for the m4 to the point you would have to design a new suspension engine and transmission. Assuming you can do all of that without massively redesigning and up scaling the basic m4 body your end result is a shitty m26 that you had to spend god knows how long and how much money to produce that may have taken so much more time and money it would be more logical to just build a new tank from the ground up.
