Can someone help me with some SNOT building techniques? I made something in LDD using the technique on the right. The headlight brick can be used to hold a plate. On the other side, there needs to be room for regular bricks. In LDD this looked fine, but in reality, the stud of the headlight brick sticks out slightly too far.
Now using the technique on the left with a 1x1 brick with technic hole there are no issues, but according to Lego that's an illegal building technique.
What would be the "correct" way to achieve this seemingly simple build without using a fuckload of parts?
