You are in a location that is randomized but the element of discovery is there when you realize that you don't have a mask and are weakened. Instinctively, there is a search for one then you find a lone matoran with a cracked/broken mask on (alive but comatose) with another that is presumed to be the toas gripped in their hands.
Now it is a journey of discovery of the landscape as well as bringing the matoran to their village or new one. You'd have to swap masks on the matoran in order to have some oregon trail element to the story so that it is a cooperative tale between the two traveling the landscape with limited access to resources.
