i think it boils down to a few things 1. western toys are made for profit alone not love and profit like japan. so they set a price and try to make a figure that costs as little as possible to get away with selling at that price point. where as japan makes a figure then sets the price point.
even when love and care and (some times) good sculpting is involved like neca. they cheap out on the production so we get things like a decent sculpt but the joints freeze or break or the paint app is shit.
and ultimately its still considered a niche market. it'll take time before people who collect toys aren't looked at like losers by the normies. I remember when video games were considered a loser market and now they are widely accepted just like comics....
of course now that that has happened it's become a bit of a shit show for those markets
