>>10435728>M-my edgy anti-hero capeshit is as grimdark as 40k! We should totally have a corny fanfic crossover, that'd be cool! No, no it isn't. This is getting dumb and de-railing the thread, so I will respond seriously one last time. 40k is a setting where even the "good guys" are shades of pragmatic, tyrannical and ruthless evil. In any other setting they would unequivocally be the evil-empire everyone is trying to overthrow(like the Empire in starwars but far, far worse) To the point that if the powers that be judge that a human world has been tainted with too much rebellion, corruption, or is simply beyond the effort of saving they will exterminate it's entire population. A single Inquisitor can decide this. Human lives are spent in the millions with very little thought to their value. The average gear that guardsmen wear is more highly valued than the men wearing it. The Imperium weaponizes humans in ways that no "good-guy" faction in capeshit including spawn could ever get away with. Hell the Emperor needs at least 1000 psykers sacrificed to him every day(and it's going on 10,000 years now), just to keep the Astronomical burning and the golden throne functioning. These people are mostly innocent humans with the misfortune of being born a psyker and found by the imperium.
For all his Angst, spawn is still a typical good-guy antihero story about good vs evil. 40k is a galactic survival-horror story about a ruthless, corrupt, inefficient tyrannical human imperium struggling to maintain itself against cosmic horrors and dark gods.
