And he has been. Of the three versions of Ironhide that have shown up since the movies started, two of them have had the cannons -- or at least, an official design that uses the cannons.

Though I'm more honestly in love with the idea of a remold of Prime Swerve/Breakdown as WFC/FOC Ironhide.

Hasbro's plans for TF Prime and WFC/FOC were absolutely dysfunctional. In retrospect you can kinda see why they had those huge layoffs of everyone.
