Thanks to the anon who suggested I just glue the tracks together without gluing them to the wheels. I initially considered it but wrote it off after not much thought; but after you suggested it, I checked it again and realized it was doable. used some blutac to fix the bogeys to the side of the hull because they fit real loose on the suspension and swung about and fell off constantly.
result was pretty flawless, and on the first try too. looking forward to doing this again tomorrow, it was actually kind of fun despite being monotonous.
